About Us

About SM Ayurveda

Dr Abin received his Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) form the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science in Bangalore and also studied in ALN Rao memorial Medical College in Koppa. He is an experienced and skilful practitioner of medicine who monitors patients carefully and adapts treatments if necessary to ensure beneficial outcomes.

The initial consultation with the doctor is free of charge and allows the patient the time to fully discuss their needs and the doctor to accurately assess treatment options. There is no obligation to commit to treatment and Dr Abin will refuse to give specific treatments to patients if he deems procedures unlikely to contribute to the healing process.

If Dr Abin says a treatment will have positive results, it will. If he says he cannot treat a problem, he won’t. If you are told treatment might work and it is worth trying then that is the patient’s decision whether or not to proceed. Honesty, transparency and integrity are the foundation stone of our work. We have a very positive attitude towards treatment and do not lose sight of the fact that we are treating an individual with an individual’s needs.

SM Ayurveda is an ethical clinic with a strong sense of duty of care. Many of our Panchakarma (detox) patients have returned each year over a period of up to 8 years.

Therapists

Dr Abin oversees a team of 4 therapists at the Varkala clinic, 1 male and 3 females. All therapists are qualified and experienced in their roles. It is the therapy team that usually facilitates treatments such as massage, steam-bath, shirodhara, nasyam etc. Generally, a patient’s treatment is carried out by a male member of staff if the patient is male and a female therapist if the patient is female. As a patient, you can request a preference, however, all therapists are skilful and highly competent in their roles.

During a detox procedure, if it is stand-alone or prior to commencement of treatment, it is recommended that you eat at the clinic. This is part of your treatment and there is no additional fee. The therapists cook specific vegetarian meals to be eaten at lunch and dinner. Where possible, ingredients are organic. These meals are an integral part of the detox procedure and patients are encouraged to adhere to nutritional advice during a detox to ensure best results.

We look forward to meeting you and are here to serve your health interests diligently and effectively.
